Week of September 30 - October 4!

October 4, 2019
This week students discovered that we are all scientists.  Like scientists, we use our five senses to make predictions and observations.  As kindergarten scientists, we will record our observations by writing, drawing with labels or drawing.

Students explored our new unit: Fall and Our Changing Environment.  Students had an opportunity to go out to the Jefferson courtyard to use our sense of sight and sound to observe a tree and record our observations.

The kindergartners also tracked our weather this week, and made daily predictions of what our
weather would be like the following day.  Students observed that in early fall, there was no pattern to our weekly weather.  One of our jobs in class is that of a Meteorologist, which students understand are scientists that track and observe weather to help us prepare for weather conditions.

We also completed a science experiment with the other EDK class and observed what happened to ice when left in the sun and in the shade.

Next week we will explore the parts of trees and leaves and continue to observe changes we see occurring in our environment.
